This project is an
outstanding example of changing a home’s design era. Built in
the 1960s as a bi-level, the owners had renovated the interior
themselves and then brought us in to give the home’s exterior
a new look.
The entrance was
small, as was typical of 1960’s bi-levels. We attained a whole
new feel by expanding the entry forward, adding a front porch
and enclosing both under one roof.
We decided on a
traditional design theme for the new exterior. The use of many
traditional wood trim details at the new porch/entry helped
strengthen the theme. We chose the new vinyl siding, referred
to as Restoration Series, for its appropriate detailing and
color. To complete the look, we added new shutters to the
curbside elevation.
