There were many goals in designing this home. A complete setting on this rural, hilltop site was the primary desire. As a result, the house has the appearance of being here much longer than it actually has.

A wrap-around porch creates lots of room for outdoor enjoyment as well as a welcoming feel. We also had to consider the home’s hilltop exposure in winter, so the home was designed for living to be oriented from east to south to west.

To improve energy efficiency, windows were limited on the north side of the home, where heat loss would be the greatest. The overall design is a blend of old and new thinking.
